Chaas aka Savory Buttermilk is all I need in this hot weather. Since childhood, my mom made it especially, during summers. She used to keep saying that it cools the body and improves digestion. I love it! 🤣 In fact, I love all milk derivatives 💞 Here goes the recipe:
Ingredients: Serves 1
7oz full-fat Greek Yogurt (More the fat, frothy will be the buttermilk, and better for the gut)
1 tsp dried mint leaves, hand crush it for fragrance
1 tsp chopped cilantro or coriander
a pinch of asafoetida
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera) powder
1/2 tsp black salt (sanchal)
2-2 1/2 cups of water
*In a blender, combine the yogurt, water, cumin seed powder, mint leaves, asafoetida, black salt and blend it for 10-15 seconds.
*Serve chilled garnished with freshly chopped cilantro.
